Volatolomic approaches in translational medicine

Duration of the project

01.06.2023. - 15.11.2023.

Countries and institutions involved in the project

flag-EE
Estonian University of Life Sciences
flag-DE
Ulm University

Project manager

Dr. Radu Ionescu

Aims of the project

The aim of this project is to initiate cooperation in the volatolomics field applied to translational medicine between EMU and UULM.

Both institutions have very active research groups in volatolomic studies for biomedical applications. The approaches used by each group are complementary (gas chromatography and chemical gas sensors at EMU; IR-based volatiles sensing at UULM), thereby holding great synergetic potential, which the partners have identified that could be exploited within future collaborative project applications.

Main activities of the project

Initial visit of UULM staff at EMU for first contact establishment. Venue: Estonian University of Life Sciences, Tartu, Estonia.

Follow-up visit of EMU staff at UULM Venue: Ulm University, Ulm, Germany.

Direct and indirect target group of the project

Direct: The involved research teams at EMU and UULM: ~15 persons

Indirect: Other researchers from Estonia involved in EMBRYOVOCS project (Competence Centre on Health Technologies (CCHT); University of Tartu (UT)): ~10 persons; other researchers at UULM and the associated Hahn-Schickard Institute for Microanalysis Systems in Ulm (HS): ~10 persons
