Aim of the project

The Symposium will take place the 12. & 13. May 2015 in the frame of the German month „Saksa Kevad“ at Tallinn University of Technology and will be part of the international conference „Industrie 4.0“ in the frame of the “Estonian IT Week”. The two days conference will be organised by the German Embassy in Tallinn and the “Estonian Association of IT and Telecommunication” and will focus on „Smart Manufacturing“ and ICT (information and communications technology) as well as on Management aspects of Industrie 4.0 in the context of Design, Product development, Supply Chain Management and Open Innovation.

The Symposium was related to ongoing activities of the German Embassy in Tallinn connecting TU Tallinn, company associations, companies and research units in order to promote German-Estonian cooperation in the context of Industry 4.0. The existing information deficits about Industry 4.0 on Estonian side on academic level shall be tackled in the frame of the Symposiums by the invited experts from Germany and the Baltic States.

The Symposium was prepared by a German-Estonian expert group which was led by Prof. Prause (TU Tallinn). Two sessions on 12.5.2015 and 13.5.2015 consisting of twice 4h duration was bringing together students, PhD students, scientists, entrepreneurs and decision makers to discuss about “Industry 4.0”.

The best papers about the presentations have been published in two special issues of the “Journal of Security and Sustainability Issues” and the “Journal of Entrepreneurship and Sustainability Issues”.

The symposium will take place in rooms of Tallinn University of Technology.
