Description of the project

In spring semester 2011 “BA School of business and finance” in cooperation with “Baltisch-Deutsche Hochschulkontor” implemented a project “Series of guestlectures of Prof. W.Lachmann (Germany) on the topic ”Global financial crisis and its impact to Latvia. How to overcome the problems – a social market economy perspective”, integrated with study course “Economic policy: an ordo-liberal view in a social market economy”. In frames of the project study module called “Economic policy: an ordo-liberal view in a social market economy” was integrated within the study program of the  first year Business Administration study program students, lectures were conducted by lecturer Angela Jafarova.  In frames of the module guestlectures of Professor of Economics at “Friedrich-Alexander University Nürnberg” Univ.-Prof. Dr. h.c. Werner LACHMANN, Ph.D took place.  He visited BA school of Business and Finance during the time period of 22-28 of May 2011. During his visit he hold guestlectures in English, had meetings with representatives of BA School and Finance, as well as conducted an open lecture „Die Finanz- und Wirtschaftskrise Hintergrunde, Auswirkungen und Lösungstrategien“ in German at the “Baltisch-Deutsche Hochschulkontor”. The aim of this project is to stimulate discussion on the following economic situation of Latvia and global financial crisis from the perspective of social market economy, as well as to promote understanding of basic principles of social market economy and ordo-liberalism.
