Aim of the project

To perform the fundamental investigations in atomic physics, ensuring the long-term knowledge sharing and deepening and strengthening of contacts.

Main activities of the project

The main part of project was work in laboratory with femtosecond laser. We partisipated in tripartite collaboration in between Physics institutes from Universities of Gothenburg and Freiburg and Latvia. Participation in international project has provided valuable experience, and raised the level of competence that will develop ambitious research both Latvian and internationally.

German colleagues provided our social activities: we saw Freiburg Symphony Orchestra anniversary concert, and University football tournament where participated the team of doctoral students from our group.

The co-operation is planned to be developed by extending the range of people involved, by emphasizing on doctoral student exchanges and experiments in Latvian, Gothenburg and the Freiburg. Universities. Professor Helm is ready to go and give lectures in school organised by Photonics project in year 2014.

Target group and number of persons involved

About 20 people in total from Freiburg, Riga and Gothenburg were involved in the discussions about work in project. The results were reported on seminar in the Institute of atomic Physics and Spectroscopy for about 30 people, and in the 72 nd scientific conference in University of Latvia for about 50 persons.
