Aim of the project

The project intends to collect and publish all works by Latvian writer Rūdolfs Blaumanis translated into German by the author himself. The publication of the volume with an introductory essay by Dr. Rolf Füllmann as well as extensive commentaries by PD Dr. Füllmann and Prof. Dr. Benedikts Kalnačs will provide readers as well as specialists with an invaluable resource which might allow to include studies of Blaumanis’s works in international study curricula as well as let broader public to grasp the meaning and aesthetic qualities of this writer’s texts.

Main activities of the project

The result of the project is a collected and edited manuscript of all literary works by Latvian writer Rūdolfs Blaumanis translated into German by the author himself.

Target group and number of persons involved

The target group consists of 30 scholars and students of German, Latvian, and Comparative literature, as well as of students at the University of Cologne (about 50 students) who are already acquainted with Blaumanis’s literary work. In addition, an international readership of up to 500-1000) people will be reached by the publication of the book.
