Aims of the project
The aim of the proposed project is to perform the high quality analysis of EEG, hormonal and behavioral data combining knowledge and experience of partners from Vilnius and Münster universities. We will organize discussions, a workshop, and arrange lab visits of PhD and master students, prepare joint presentations and a publication. We are convinced that this international collaboration will foster scientific exchange in the field of gonadal hormones and EEG research and promote our young scientists.
Main activities of the project
June 2, 2023. Project start meeting, will be organized at Vilnius University, Life Sciences Center and online. All members will be present: members from Vilnius University and University of Münster. This event will be used for exchange of ideas and set-up of joint work during the project.
June 2 – July 3, 2023. Final steps of the study, analysis of behavioral data, assessment of sex hormones in collected samples. Online training „EEG preprocessing and frequency analysis“. Participants: Elena Cesnaite, Ramune Griksiene, Rimante Gaizauskaite, Lina Gladutyte.
July 4 – 18, 2023 Rimantė Gaizauskaite (PhD student at Vilnius University) visit University of Münster to learn proposed EEG data analysis methods.
July 4 – 25, 2023 Lina Gladutyte (Master student at Vilnius University) visit University of Münster to learn proposed EEG data analysis methods.
September 20-22, 2023. Workshop “EEG analysis” will be organized at Vilnius University (lecturers Elena Cesnaite, Ramune Griksiene, Rimante Gaizauskaite).
September 19-26, 2023. Elena Cesnaite visit to Lithuania for leading the workshop and preparation of the publication.

Information about the workshop (i.e., exact date and venue) will be shared on websites or social networks: Vilnius University Life Science center and University of Münster.
Direct and indirect target group of the project
Direct:
- Project participants from Dr. Ramune Griksiene group (6 PhD and master students), Prof. Niko Busch group (2 researchers), Dr. Robertas Guzulaitis group (3 researchers and students), Dr. Inga Griskova-Bulanova group (4 researchers and PhD students).
- The students of study programs “Neurobiology” (Master) and “Neurobiophysics” (Bachelor) will be invited to participate in the Workshop “EEG analysis”. Expected number – 8 students.
Indirect:
Scientific community, related to the research of sex differences and effect of sex steroids would benefit upon the dissemination of research results (>100 scientists):
- Publication is planned.
- Presentations in international conferences are planned.
