Aims of the project

Meeting held at EMU, Estonia;

Identifying common research interests and planning joint project submissions to initiate future long-term collaborations

Main activities of the project

Date: 18/10/2023

Place: Estonian University of Life Sciences /Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences. Tartu, Estonia

Activities:

Morning session:

  • Radu Ionescu: Welcome and Project overview
  • Toomas Tiirats: Presentation of the Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences from EMU
  • Radu Ionescu: Presentation of the current projects in volatolomics research at EMU
  • Monika Nõmm: Presentation of the current projects in embryology research at EMU
  • Andres Salumets: Presentation of the Competence Centre on Health Technologies (CCHT) and current projects in assisted reproduction at CCHT

Afternoon session:

  • Boris Mizaikoff: Presentation of the Institute of Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry (IABC) from University of Ulm (UULM) and the research performed at IABC
  • Boris Mizaikoff: Presentation of Hahn-Schickard Institute for Microanalysis Systems (HS)
  • Boris Mizaikoff: Presentation of the system designed by UULM/HS for the capture of the volatiles released by any kind of biological samples under tightly controlled conditions
  • Vjekoslav Kokoric: Presentation of the current research at the System Integration research group from HS

Round table where common research interests and different funding opportunities were assessed. Common funding interests were identified in food quality assessment employing volatolomic techniques and diagnosis of diseases associated with the pregnancy, such as maternal sepsis. It was agreed to initially try to apply for funding under the EC Widening program (ERA Talents or Twinning).

Direct and indirect target group of the project
