Aim of the project
The aim of the project is to attract specialists of public administration at local level from Chemnitz University of Technology and University of Latvia to attend the International Scientific-Practical Conference “Good Governance at Local Self-Government: Democracy, Decentralization, Development” as scientific committee members and as a consultants during building guidelines and the preparation of the programme, as well as to present reforms and experiences in good governance at local self government from their countries.
The project aims are, at first to encourage fundamental and applied public administration researches, which contribute to social and economical development of the European region and stable local communities. Researchers and experts from different fields (Public Administration, Political Science, Law, Economics, Management, etc.) are invited to participate and discuss the proposed object from various aspects. At second, to provide possibilities for sharing scientific and practical experiences in the field of good governance in local self-government by promoting science, business, state authorities and society social partnership, the expression of transparency, accountability, responsibility, openness and other principles of good governance.
Along with experts from Germany and Latvia there will be broad international representation of the researchers from the Baltic States, Finland, Russia, Poland, Slovakia, Czech republic at the conference.
The conference is hosted by Public administration department at Siauliai University in Lithuania.

Target group and number of persons involved
The target group covers:
Researchers from different fields (Public Administration, Political Science, Law, Economics, Management, etc.) experts, PhD students, representatives of local authorities and business, who are interested in good governance at local self-government.
About 80 scholars, PhD students and representatives of local municipalities from Lithuania, Latvia, Germany, Russia, Slovakia, Czech republic, Finland, Poland, etc. will take part in the conference.
