Aim of the project
Our event (seminar) was a great opportunity to learn from German colleagues about climate change and health issues, to share the current state of this problem between Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian scientist working in the field of climate change, to provide scientific evidence and to present roadmap for politics, decision makers, environmental medicine specialists and local stakeholders in Lithuania. In addition, the information and gained knowledge have been broadcasted further in all Baltic States. The seminar speakers were: Andreas Matzarakis (Freiburg), Mait Sepp, Hans Orru and Ene Indermitte (Tartu), Agrita Briede and Olga Ritenberga (Riga), Justas Kažys and Dovilė Adamonytė (Vilnius).
Main activities of the project
The main planning, preparing, organizing and managing activities made in the Institute of Geosciences (Vilnius university) and Lithuanian Hydrometeorolgical Service, Vilnius, Lithuania.
The main preparation of specific materials and information for the seminar made in Research Centre Human Biometeorology, German Meteorological Service, Freiburg and Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, Freiburg, Germany.
Geosciences (Vilnius university) and Lithuanian Hydrometeorolgical Service together with Health training and disease prevention centre (Vilnius, Lithuania) were responsible for information broadcasting.
The seminar venue was held in the building of the Institute of Geosciences (Vilnius university), Vilnius Lithuania.
Target group and number of persons involved
Direct: researches in the fields of climatology, environmental medicine, climate change), Hydrometeorological service, environmental NGOs, mass media, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Healthcare, Vilnius city municipality, employees responsible for health care in regions. 100 persons will be directly involved.
Indirect (Public not directly involved in the project activities): EMS, hospitals, clinics, health care centres, fire service, universities, colleges, schools, kindergartens, resorts municipalities. Tenths thousands of persons will be indirectly involved
