Achieved project aims

The project HETERGETIC successfully established a trilateral collaboration between Riga Technical University (RTU), Vilnius University, and Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU), combining expertise in organic synthesis, energetic materials analysis, and computational modeling. Key achievements include: the synthesis of novel nitrogen-rich energetic compounds at RTU, demonstrating high energy density and environmentally friendly combustion properties; advanced characterization and safety testing at LMU; knowledge exchange and training, with Baltic researchers gaining access to state-of-the-art facilities and analytical techniques in Germany; dissemination of results through scientific publications, conference presentations, and workshops, strengthening Baltic-German research ties.

The project laid the foundation for ongoing research initiatives, securing two new grants and a third under evaluation, ensuring the continued development and application of next-generation energetic materials in defense, aerospace, and sustainable energy solutions. It also has attracted industry interest, with ongoing discussions on signing an industrial agreement for energetic material research at RTU.
