2) strategic networking in order to forge partnerships for research and teaching collaborations in the future.

To achieve the set goals, the following activities will take place:

1) International conference on the interplay between formal institutions and informal practices in Southeastern and Northeastern Europe. The premise of the conference is that there is a lack of comparative knowledge on the informal institutions and practices in the two regions. The conference aims to address this gap and bring together scholars conducting research in Southeastern and Northeastern Europe to advance social scientific knowledge of a) both regions; b) the many faces of informality in contemporary world.

2) Networking workshop aimed at discussing future collaboration opportunities between German and Baltic anthropologists. While there have been sporadic ties between them until now, the workshop will provide an opportunity to strengthen and institutionalize these networks.
