Aim(s) of the project

Latvia has made remarkable progress in tertiary education attainment rate but issues remain to be addressed to improve the quality of higher education. The important task considers - strengthening the link between the labour market and education (European Commission, 2015; LATVIA European inventory on NQF 2016).

The aim of the project is strengthening the research capacity of Latvia in Digitalization in Logistics and Transport, and stimulating synergies between research and business in Baltic.

TTI represents a research and educational institute, which now through ALLIANCE EU project significantly increased its visibility in research domain “interconnecting transportation networks”.

Through planned cooperation in this project, the participants will develop new activities for tertiary education, staff exchanges, collaboration in science and publications.

Planned events, knowledge and experience transfer from an innovation leader (Germany) will establish the strong connection between industry and research and gives an opportunity of higher quality and quantity of knowledge-intensive innovations and more effective usage of science in business.

1) 26.04.2018: Open Workshop “Digitalization in Logistics and Transport”   in Riga, TTI:

Direct target group: PhD and Master students from Baltic Region, Baltic lecturers in transport and logistics, 40 participants

2) 19.06.2018: International Doctoral Student Workshop (IDWL): Input-Presentations from Latvian and German business speakers at IDWL in Magdeburg: Direct target group: PhD and Master students from different countries get input presentation from Latvian and German business speakers, 50 participants

3) 16.10.2018: PhD seminar “Sci-Bi: Digitalization in Logistics and Transport” in Riga, TTI:

Direct target group: PhD and Master students from Baltic Region, 12 participants; Business from Logistics and Transport sector, 8 participants

Indirect target group: Baltic lecturers in transport and logistics and doctoral supervisors, 20 participants  

Main activities of the project and venue(s) where the project activities will be carried out:

The project will consist of 4 modules:

1) PhD seminar in Riga, TTI (26.04.2018):  for PhD students from Latvia, their supervisors and MSc students that interested in research. Conference hall in TTI.

2) Preparation of the PhD Seminar.

3) Participation in International Doctoral Student Workshop in Magdeburg on 19th June 2018

4) International Innovative PhD seminar in Riga, TTI (16.10.2018.). Conference hall in TTI
